About Us

Spend Matters Navigator is the partial brainchild of the original founders of Spend Matters: Jason Busch and Kevin Brooks (who ran corporate marketing for Ariba at the time). For those who know the history behind the original blog — which will continue along with the same veracity as before — Jason credits Kevin with coming up with the idea of writing a Spend Management blog in 2004 back before anyone knew what RSS was. Jason ran with the concept, and the rest is RSS history.

But Spend Matters Navigator would not be possible without the talents of Frank Russo, who has served as its unofficial COO and CTO since its inception (we're not terribly formal with titles around here). Frank has a long history in the procurement and content space, having served as an executive with Thomas Global, MFG.com and other leaders in the sector. Today, Frank leads the operational and technical components of Spend Matters Navigator. There are numerous other folks behind Spend Matters Navigator from technical, content and business process perspectives as well who we can't thank enough for their efforts.

Spend Matters Navigator is built on Siderean, a leading indexing, search and navigation platform. What makes our approach and technology platform different from other search tools and indexes? We believe that seeing and understanding relationships between information enables users to discover and participate in the information flow. Unlike search, which is all about precision and recall, and also unlike static or other navigation types, which support fixed relationships and drill down only, Spend Matters Navigator identifies relationships on the fly and allows users to pivot around the information set. Try it and let us know your impressions. We hope you'll see immediately why Spend Matters Navigator is not just another search engine or content portal!
