Aberdeen: Got Spam?

Over on E-Sourcing Forum, David Bush, notes that it feels like he "received 240 emails from Aberdeen this week. Well, that is a slight exaggeration but it cannot be far off ... Aberdeen does the best job of covering supply management but the message is getting washed out in the non-stop brow beating." While I agree with David that Aberdeen is a bit trigger happy on the email updates, I am excited that they're moving in the direction of publishing their brief and news headlines via RSS. Perhaps this will eventually replace their traditional push-email onslaught approach and get Aberdeen off of the spammer’s list once and for all. This is a serious problem for them, as I can't remember the last time that an email from Aberdeen was not picked up by my spam filter.

Well, did one of those emails announce any analyst/coverage changes? Vance got smart and escaped out of here -- Aberdeen's going to be a non-player in Supply Management. So you can just remove yourself from their email list. Don't hold your breath on a RSS feed.

I do not believe this above comment to be true, but I'm checking into it. Will post what I find later today or over the weekend

I am still waiting on the final word and specifics. But Vance will have a role at the "post-bedard" Aberdeen -- the question is what his focus will be and whether he'll be consulting to them or an employee. I'm guessing it will be the former, which means that the practice will again be without a full-time leader with a strong reputation in the market. Andrew and others can still create such a name for themselves, but this will take time.
